Hiking in Wild Taiga

Wild Taiga area has a great expanse of untouched wilderness, which offers exceptional hikes in ancient forests and on predator’s footsteps. Join our local guides to learn about our myths of the forests, its healing effects physically and mentally and animals roaming in the area.

Hiking in Wild Taiga includes three outdoor activities that are suitable from beginners to active outdoor enthusiasts:

Two Nature Trails

2 different nature trails only 15 min transfer away from hotel. First destination is Lauttavaara trail, 2 km long, an old forest where we can observe signs of the ice age, plants and perhaps even animals. Next we head to Lentua rapid, 1,5 km, to learn about exciting history of using the rapids as transport route. Duration 3-4 hours, including snacks and coffee.

Hiidenportti National Park

According to an old Finnish legend a demon named Hiisi lived in this peaceful and quiet park.

Hike to see beautiful Hiidenportti Gorge. Guide tells you stories of the park’s legends and myths. Soup lunch is enjoyed at the park by open fire. Duration 6 hours.

Iso-Palonen Nature Reserve

13 km guided hiking trip on an easy trail going around beautiful Iso-Palonen nature reserve. The landscape consists of old forests, lakes, beaches and eskers.

There is a chance to spot signs of great predators like bear and wolf, like footprints and droppings.

Light lunch is cooked by the fire halfway through the journey. There is also a chance to go for a swim at the lunch spot!

Hiking shoes/trainers, weather according outdoor clothing, backpack, water bottle
